Vacancy: English Teaching Assistant in Évora, Portugal
We are a renowned languages school located in the historic city of Évora in Portugal. Our mission is to offer the highest quality language learning experience and promote cultural exchange. We have a vacancy for a motivated, dedicated and creative English Teaching Assistant.
Role Description:
The successful candidate will assist with all areas of English language teaching under the guidance of experienced educators. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with lesson planning and preparation
- Providing English language instruction to small groups or individual students
- Helping to develop educational materials including interactive learning aids
- Supporting students with assignments and language practice
- Providing constructive feedback to students and educators
- Participating in administrative tasks like record-keeping and grading.
- Assisting with extracurricular activities designed to enrich learning experiences.
Job Requirements:
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics or a related field.
- A TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate or equivalent qualification.
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in English language teaching, or in a teaching assistant role.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
Personal Requirements:

- Fluent in English and Portuguese with excellent written communication skills in both.
- Able to work independently and take initiative.
- Driven to continually improve teaching practices.
- Capable of engaging different learning styles.
- Comfortable receiving feedback from both educators and students.
